YOGA MUDRA ASANA
Yoga Mudra Asana is a symbol of unity. This important Asana inspires feelings of devotion and humility in mind and body. When performed this Asana stretches legs and hips, opens up shoulders, and aids the whole gastrointestinal tract.

TECHNIQUE

Sit upright and cross-legged or in the kneeling pose assuming the Padma Asana..

Yoga Mudra Asana
Move your arms behind your back, clasp your hands firmly grasp the right wrist with your left hand.

Breathe in deeply and then exhale slowly.

Gradually bend forward and downward your trunk and head over the heels from the hip joints.

Slowly bring down towards the floor your shoulders, the upper as well as the lower portion of your chest.

Finally gently rest your forehead on the floor.

Keeping arms straight, lift your clasped hands up over your head until your arms are perpendicular to the floor.

Completely relax the body and the posture should be maintained motionlessly and comfortably.

Breathe rhythmically but deeply and slowly.

Stretch forward a bit your head and trunk and then revert to the starting position.

Repeat this asana alternating your legs.

In a variation of this Asana starting from Padma Asana interlock the hands behind the back and as you exhale, bend forwards. Rest your forehead on the ground. Raise upwards the arms to their optimum levels but straight behind your back and acting as a lever. The arms will also accentuate the stretch level of the chest and the shoulders. Remain in this position for 10 seconds. While returning to the starting position, solely inhale. Lower the arms and slowly return to the upright state and release your fingers lock. Do Yoga Mudra Asana three times and during each turn raise the legs slowly

BENEFITS

Yoga Mudra has a curative and corrective effect for the asthmatics. The lungs and their bronchial branches are stimulated in a very effective way. Because of reverse conditioning of the upper area of the body, the blood from the lower region begins to flow upwards and massages the veins of the lower bronchioles of the lungs. This helps restore the normal health of the lungs and their functioning.

Yoga Mudra corrects the disorders of the spine.

It removes gastric troubles and constipation and strengthens whole digestive system. It also enhances sexual potentiality.

With Yoga Mudra the entire spinal column gets stretched.

This Asana makes coccyx, the neck and the spinal column suppler.

The muscles of the back are stretched and the spinal ligaments become suppler.
