MURCCHA KUMBHAKA PRANAYAMA

Murccha Kumbhaka Paranayama

Murccha kumbhaka (pronounced MER-chah koom-BHAH-kah) focuses all your attention and energy on your third eye, which is the chakra, or energy center, located between and just above your eyebrows on your forehead.

TECHNIQUE

Murccha Kumbhaka Paranayama
Sit down in Posture that best suits you and inhale breath through both the nostrils. Retain the breath. Do Jalandhara Bandha by pressing the chin against the chest. Retain the breath till you expect fainting and then exhale slowly. This is Murchha Kumbhaka as it makes the mind senseless and gives happiness. But this is not suitable for many. This exercise is recommended only for those already well advanced in the use of other breathing techniques.

Step by step technique is:

1. Gently and slowly inhale, then hold your breath.

2. As you hold your breath, concentrate on the spot on your forehead about an inch above the place exactly between your eyebrows, called the third eye.

3. Hold your breath for as long as is comfortable, while staying focused on the third eye.

4. Exhale very slowly through your mouth, staying focused on the third eye.

5. Repeat several times.

BENEFITS

This exercise produces a focused, blissful feeling. The mind becomes free of all the feelings and the performer experiences joy. Through this Pranayama, thoughts and resolution decreases in the mind, and a person experiences the feeling of non-existence.
