SUKH ASANA
This is the most comfortable pose for the beginners or the elderly person, so the name Sukhasan or the easy pose. In this pose sit erect and cross your legs in a way that none of the legs are kept over the other. The heel of one leg comes in alignment with the heel of another and the knees are wide open.

TECHNIQUE

Take a cushion; sit on the angle of the cushion.

Stretch both the legs in front.

Sukh Asana
Now, fold any one leg (preferably left) and keep it in the center (heel close to the center of body).

Fold the other leg so that heel comes in alignment to the heel in center.

Adjust, to make the spine straight to feel the curve of spine.

Keep the hands on the knees either in mudra or with palms facing up.

BENEFITS

Excellent as a beginners pose to open up the major joints of the body.

Puts minimum tension on the muscular system & skeleton framework, so due to less pressure the circulation in the lower limbs is not hampered due to the weight of the body.

Checks the loss of prana as the 3 organs of action (both legs & excretory organs) are blocked.

Sukh Asana or Siddh Asana or Easy Pose is true to its name. The excellent hidden agenda that makes Sukh Asana one of the most preferred yoga poses is that it immensely benefits both body and mind. It is an excellent Asana for the beginners. It is basically simple cross-legged posture. It is the well accepted Asana for meditation, pranayama and breathing exercises.

TECHNIQUE

As a physical exercise it is a very simple posture. Just sit cross-legged and you are in the Sukh Asana.

To make it perfect follow these additional steps.

Sit uprightly with an erect spine.

Place your folded right foot under your left thigh and the left foot under your right thigh.

Your hands must be on your knees and palms facing upwards.

Let there be no strain for your lower back.

It is perfectly okay if you sit on a blanket or use a cushion.

Sit in this Asana as long as u desire.

You can perform any breathing or meditative Asana while sitting in this posture.

BENEFITS

It is best Asana for meditation.

You can sit for long hours in this pose, without any physical discomfort.

There are instances, where the yogis have sat in this pose for years together, all engrossed in meditation.

With this Asana you get a better and disciplined posture.

In this Asana you are able to maintain a straight spinal position.
Good posture of this Asana has long term positive effects on your body and mind.

During this Asana your neck and spinal muscles are strengthened.

This Asana also has the elements of spiritual advantages. When you meditate in this Asana you introspect and watch your breathing.

This Asana is the base to achieve flights of higher consciousness.

The literal meaning of Sukh Asana is to make you seated in a comfortable posture. But in fact it is the launching pad for the real Sukha or the ultimate happiness.
